I am definitely one to make a New Years resolution – lose weight, start running, save monthly… it never happens! I’m here holding myself accountable, this is my promise to myself that by the end of 2019 I will have saved £1000, HOW I hear you say? Well, here’s the plan!
I am starting a new job in the coming weeks. I am hoping I will get my first pay cheque at the end of June. I don’t know how much money this will be, so this is a very rough plan, but here we go…
Debt. I have a lot of it. My main concern is my credit card. I’ve decided if I can pay that off by October I’ll be happy.
Everyday savings. Every adult I ever talk to about money talks about a “rainy day” pot. I don’t even have a sunny day pot ffs. So I want a rainy day pot of at least £250 by December.
ISA. Yes, I genuinely have an ISA! I set it up months ago because my mum told me I had to… #adulting. It currently has £20 in it, so if I can have £500 in it by the end of the year then I’ll be happy!
Joint savings. My partner and I have been together for 6 years, we are very liberal with money between us, but we have NEVER SAVED! Not even a penny! My plan is to open a joint account and save £250 in it myself, and hopefully he will follow…
There we are… that’s the big ONE THOUSAND saved. Sounds a lot easier said than done! I’ll keep you updated.
